To effectively target specific properties within a desired area, Spectre Campaigns offers a powerful custom area feature. This feature allows you to draw custom shapes on the map, defining the precise areas you want to include in your campaigns.
Steps to Create a Custom Area:
- Activate Custom Area Mode: Click the "Draw Custom Area" button in the top right corner of the map.
- Define the Area: Use your mouse to draw a shape around the desired area on the map by clicking the map and dropping your first pin, add as many points as you like until you’re happy with the shape.
- Finalise the Area: Once satisfied, double-click on the map on your last point to finalise the custom area, you can click ‘Save Custom Area’ to save it for future use.
Please note - your custom area will need to be inside the postcode sectors you’re currently covering in your account. You’ll see the sectors you cover highlighted within a purple outline.

You’ll see this area populate with pink markers that represent the property addresses within your shape. From here, you can use the filters on the left side menu to filter the addresses down further. Click HERE to read all of the filters you can use.
Save Custom Area:
Once you have drawn your custom area, you will now have the ability to save and name this selection for future use! To do this, you just need to -
- Draw your area as above.
- Once you’re happy with it, click the ‘Save Custom Area’ on the top right of the map.
- Name the custom area something that relates to the area drawn. For example, it could be ‘City Centre,’ or the name of the local school that is close by.
- Click save and your area should be saved and available to use the next time you go to send a campaign.
Load Saved Areas:
If you are planning on regularly utilising Spectre Campaigns, it may be helpful to access a previously used area, this is especially useful if you want to strategically launch a campaign over the course of a few months, continuously contacting the same properties.
Consistency is key when prospecting, sending multiple letters and postcards over time can improve your chances of success. Follow the steps below to select a Saved Campaign -
- Open Spectre Campaigns and choose the campaign you’d like to send.
- Once you’re on the map, click ‘Load Saved Area’ on the top right.
- This will load up all of the areas you’ve previously saved.
- You might need to scroll to view all your custom areas.
- Once you’ve found the one you’re looking for, click on the area and it should load on the map.
- You’re then able to add any filters if you want and complete the Campaign Journey.
If you’re looking to send the same campaign to the same properties, with the same message, you can use our ‘Send Previous Campaigns' function, which will easily allow you to target the same area, using the same previously applied filters and postcard template.
