Content Blocks

Content blocks are reusable, interchangeable elements that can be applied across multiple email templates, helping to streamline the design process and maintain consistency in your campaigns. For more details on setting up email templates, refer to our guide here.

If you regularly use certain elements—such as headers, buttons, property listings, social media links, or dividers—you can save them as content blocks, making it quick and easy to add them to future email templates.

How to create a Content Block -

To get started, navigate to Email Marketing > Templates from your Spectre menu > click the Content Blocks tab, once there you can:

  • Use a pre-made block from the Content Block Library, which can be customised as needed.
  • Create a new content block from scratch by clicking ‘Create Content Block’.

When you’ve selected your preferred option, you’ll be taken to the builder, where you can:

  • Create a single content block for an individual element, such as a button, property listing, or divider.
  • Combine multiple elements into one content block to build a more complex, reusable section, such as a property listing with a button and heading.

Drag and drop each element to start building.

On the right-hand side of the builder, you’ll find four key sections to help customise your content block:

Content:

The Content tab includes all the elements you can use in a content block. Drag and drop the content blocks to start building. These include:

Images:

Under the Images tab, you can:

  • Upload an image from your desktop, select a stock image or generate an image using Spectre AI.
  • Apply a clickable action to the image.
  • Click on an image within the builder to edit it—apply filters, resize, crop, draw, add text or stickers, add a frame, round corners, or merge images.
  • When in the image editor use the revert icon to restore the original design or use the left and right arrows in the top-left corner to undo or redo changes. If you make changes, be sure to click ‘Save’ to keep them or ‘Cancel’ to discard them.

Uploads:

The Uploads tab contains all images you have previously uploaded, allowing you to reapply them to your templates. It works the same as the ‘Images’ tab, once the image is uploaded you’ll be able to add a clickable action. You can also upload new images to store for future use.

Audit:

The Audit tab helps ensure your content block is error-free before use. It will flag potential issues such as:

  • Broken links – Check that all buttons and links are working correctly.
  • Missing alt text – Without alt text, screen readers cannot describe images to visually impaired users. Be sure to add appropriate alternative text to all images.

Review all issues flagged in the Audit tab to ensure your content blocks function smoothly and provide an optimal user experience.

Once you have designed and saved your content block, it will be available for use in future email templates, if you are ready to set your template up, refer to our guide on Email Templates [link].
